Thursday Afternoon Rain/Thunderstorm Update

We're tracking a system that's brought widespread rain & clouds to IL today. The good news is that the widespread cloud cover has kept temperatures and instability relatively low, so thunderstorm coverage has been very limited so far. This evening into the overnight hours, thunderstorms will likely develop to our west and push into IL as a cluster or two. While the atmosphere shouldn't support widespread severe weather, we do have a level 2/5 risk in effect for much of western/southern & part of central IL, with a level 1/5 risk for the remainder of the state. So no need to worry, but we will likely be dealing with scattered clusters of thunderstorms tonight, with the highest coverage & intensity further south.
