Major Weekend Winter Storm (1/23 Forecast)

A major winter storm will impact parts of the state, particularly southern IL with significant snowfall expected. Amounts will taper drastically as you travel north across the state, with this only being a minor 1-3" event across northern IL & much of Chicagoland, barring any last minute major changes. Snow will begin Saturday afternoon and will very slowly spread east-northeastward as it battles the cold, dry Arctic airmass.
