Yesterday a powerful storm system more usual during Spring for our area brought heavy rain and thunderstorms to the state, along with very gusty winds. Some areas near the I-55 corridor saw 2-3" of rain, which led to flooding across parts of northern IL. With that behind us, we're back to Winter, with another system moving in Saturday morning as a rain/snow mix, transitioning to all snow by mid-morning. Temperatures will be around freezing, so it'll be tough to accumulate, but areas north of I-88 could see accumulations on grassy surfaces of an inch or two. It'll be very windy and chilly for the Bears game Saturday night, with falling temperatures and light, scattered snow showers on and off throughout the game.
