Illinois Storm Chasers

(10:15AM – Monday, July 28th, 2025) Severe t’storm threat will continue into mid-week…

Timing & Location…
•Monday Morning – Tuesday Morning, July 28-29th: Much of Illinois.

Impacts…
•A level 1 severe t’storm threat is in place across a large portion of Illinois from Monday morning through Tuesday morning, for the threat of isolated severe t’storms. Damaging winds will be the main threat with activity.

Discussion…
•Monday Morning – Tuesday Morning… In the wake of morning rain and t’storm activity that tracked across portions of the state, additional isolated to scattered showers and t’storms will be likely across the state, from this afternoon through this evening. Eastern and Southeastern Illinois will have the best chance of seeing this activity, as a disturbance continues sliding through the area. Also of focus will be another complex of rain and t’storm activity, which will be in a weakening phase, which will attempt to move into Northwestern Illinois late tonight or Tuesday morning. Severe t’storms may be possible with some of this activity.
•We are monitoring the possibility for a severe t’storm threat across portions of the state for Tuesday/Tuesday night and Wednesday/Wednesday night as well. Tuesday’s threat is unclear, thus precluding any outlook issuance at this time. Wednesday’s forecast will be issued with the next update!
