(11:15AM – Tuesday, April 29th, 2025) Tuesday morning update on a storm system moving through the region, bringing waves of shower and t’storm activity to the state, from this morning through this evening. Severe t’storms will be likely with some of this activity.
Timing…
•Tuesday Morning – Tuesday Evening, April 29th.
Location…
•Southern Illinois.
Impacts…
•A level 1 to 2 severe t’storm threat is in place across Southern Illinois, for the likelihood of isolated to widely scattered severe t’storms.
•Damaging winds, large hail, and an isolated tornado will all be threats with activity.
•Environmental conditions will be supportive of the possibility of occurrences of damaging winds 75MPH+ and/or corridors of widespread/significant wind damage.
Update…
•With this update, we have adjusted coverage of severe t’storm probabilities based on real-time data/observations. Additionally, we have increased severe t’storm probabilities across Southern Illinois, to account for perhaps slightly higher severe t’storm coverage being possible.
Discussion…
•A cold front ha already sliced over halfway across the state by late this morning, with a few waves of shower and t’storm activity already having had occurred across portions of Central and Southern Illinois last night and this morning, with a few isolated strong/severe t’storms. As this front presses further across the state between this morning through this evening, another wave of shower and t’storm activity will be likely across Southern Illinois. Environmental conditions will be supportive of a severe t’storm threat with some of the activity across Southern Illinois, through this evening.
