(11:30AM – Monday, April 28th, 2025) Monday morning update on a storm system moving through the region, which will bring waves of shower and t’storm activity to the state from late tonight/early Tuesday morning through Tuesday night. Severe t’storms will be possible with some of this activity.
Timing…
•Early Tuesday Morning – Tuesday Night, April 29th.
Location…
•Central & Southern Illinois.
Impacts…
•A level 1 severe t’storm threat is in place across Central and Southern Illinois, for the likelihood of isolated severe t’storms.
•Large hail and damaging winds will be the main threats with activity.
Update…
•With this update, we have slightly bumped level 1 severe t’storm probabilities northward across Central Illinois. Outside of this small change, no other changes were needed, as the going forecast is on track.
Discussion…
•A cold front will press into portions of Northern Illinois tonight, bringing with it the chance of isolated to scattered showers and t’storms. As this front presses further across the state between early Tuesday morning into Tuesday night, more widespread and organized shower and t’storm will be likely in waves across the state. Environmental conditions will be supportive of a severe t’storm threat with some of the activity across Central and Southern Illinois between early Tuesday morning and Tuesday night.
