(11:45PM – Wednesday, April 2nd, 2025) As a storm system moves through the region, waves of rain and t’storms will be likely across the state between Friday morning and Saturday morning. Severe t’storms may be possible with some of this activity.
Timing…
•Friday Morning – Saturday Morning, April 4-5th.
Location…
•Southern Illinois.
Impacts…
•A level 1 severe t’storm risk is in place across Southern Illinois, for the possibility of isolated severe t’storms.
•All modes of severe weather will be possible, including large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes. The tornado threat will be maximized across Eastern and Southern Illinois.
Discussion…
•As a storm system moves through the region, waves of rain and t’storms will be likely across the state between Friday morning and Saturday morning. Severe t’storms may be possible with some of this activity.
As a warm front begins to lift northward and warm air advection occurs, an initial area of showers and t’storms will develop and lift northward across the state on Friday morning and afternoon. Across Southern Illinois where an overlap of shear and elevated instability will be present, an isolated severe t’storm threat will exist with this activity, with hail being the main threat.
On Friday afternoon, a larger area of showers/t’storms and severe t’storms will develop from Missouri on down into Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. This activity will then track northeastward, eventually across the state from Friday evening though Saturday morning. With the warm front lifting into Southern Illinois and the area of low pressure expected to track across Southern Illinois as well, the open warm sector will also poke into Southern Illinois. As activity spreads across the area, potentially int he form of a QLCS, an environment will be in place supportive of at least an isolated severe t’storm threat. All modes of severe weather will be possible with this activity.
