(9:30AM – Wednesday, August 28th, 2024) Early Wednesday update on hot and humid conditions that will continue for a few more days across portions of the state, as a ridge that has been in place across the Central U.S. breaks down to end this week.

•Saturday, August 24th – Friday, August 30th: All Of Illinois.

Impacts…
•Daily high temperatures in the mid 80’s to mid 90’s can be expected across affected areas of the state.
•Daily peak heat indices of 90-105 are expected across affected areas of the state.
•Daily rain/t’storm chances will temper conditions at times for some areas.

Discussion…
•A ridge that has been in place across the Central U.S. will break down to end this week. However, a few more days of hot and humid conditions will continue across the state through the end of this week. A few days will feature rain/t’storm chances, which will temper conditions at times for some areas.

•Fri, August 29th: High temperatures of 85-95 across East-Central and Southern Illinois, with peak heat indices of 90-105.
