(9:30AM – Tuesday, August 27th, 2024) Tuesday morning update on a few disturbances and a storm system moving through the region, bringing the possibility of rain and t’storm activity to portions of the state from this morning through Wednesday night. Severe t’storms will be possible with some of this activity across specific outlooked areas during a timeframe from this morning through early Wednesday morning.

•With this update on the severe t’storm forecast for today/tonight, little to no changes were needed, as the going forecast is on track based on the latest data.

•Tuesday Morning – Early Wednesday Morning, August 27-28th.

•Northern & Central Illinois.

Impacts…
•A level 1 severe t’storm risk is in place across Northern and Central Illinois from this morning through early Wednesday morning for the possibility of isolated severe t’storms. Damaging winds and large hail will be the threats from activity.

Discussion…
•With a few disturbances and a storm system moving through the region, some rain and t’storm activity is expected to traverse the state from this morning through Wednesday night.
•A round of isolated to scattered showers and t’storms will develop and track across portions of Northern and Central Illinois from later Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday morning. Some of this activity may grow upscale into a complex during this timeframe. Environmental conditions will be supportive of a severe t’storm threat with some of this activity across the specific outlooked area during this timeframe.
