(10:30PM – Sunday, August 25th, 2024) Sunday update on a ridge that will continue to be established across the Central U.S. through later this week, which will continue to bring a period of hot and humid conditions across the state for a multi-day period through later this week.

​Timing & Location…
•Saturday, August 24th – Thursday, August 29th: All Of Illinois.

Impacts…
•Daily high temperatures in the upper 80’s to upper 90’s can be expected across the state.
•Daily heat index values between 90-115 can be expected across the state.
•A few days will feature rain/t’storm chances, which will temper conditions at times for some areas.

Discussion…
•A ridge that has become established across the Central U.S. will be in place for a time early to mid week, before breaking down later this week. This ridge will continue to bring a multi-day period of hot and humid conditions to the state through Thursday. A few days will feature rain/t’storm chances, which will temper conditions at times for some areas. The most widespread and oppressively hot and humid conditions will be on Monday and Tuesday across the state, when widespread temperatures are expected to be in the mid 90’s to around 100 and widespread heat index values of 100-115 will be likely.

•Mon, August 26th: High temperatures of 92-100 across the state, with peak heat indices of 94-113.
•Tue, August 27th: High temperatures of 90-100 across the state, with peak heat indices of 94-115.
•Wed, August 28th: High temperatures of 86-100 across the state, with peak heat indices of 90-113.
