(11:30PM – Saturday, August 24th, 2024) Saturday update on a ridge that will continue to be established across the Central U.S. from this weekend and into this next week, which will continue to bring a period of hot and humid conditions across the state for a multi-day period through Thursday.

​Timing & Location…
•Saturday, August 24th – Thursday, August 29th: All Of Illinois.

Impacts…
•Daily high temperatures in the upper 80’s to upper 90’s can be expected across the state.
•Daily heat index values between 90-110 can be expected across the state.
•A few days will feature rain/t’storm chances, which will temper conditions at times for some areas.

Discussion…
•A developing ridge across the Central U.S. this weekend will become established for a time, before breaking down later this upcoming week. This ridge will continue to bring a multi-day period of hot and humid conditions to the state through Thursday. A few days will feature rain/t’storm chances, which will temper conditions at times for some areas. The most widespread and oppressively hot and humid conditions will likely be on Monday and Tuesday across the state, when widespread temperatures are expected to be in the mid 90’s to around 100 and widespread heat index values of 100-110 will be likely.

•Sun, August 25th: High temperatures of 87-96 across the state, with peak heat indices of 89-103.
•Mon, August 26th: High temperatures of 92-100 across the state, with peak heat indices of 94-110.
